Role: Technical Director

In this role, I recruited and coordinated designers, stage managers, and technical staff for the production. I assisted with the collection of venue measurements for use by the scenic and lighting designers. I also led bi-weekly production meetings, organized the production and tech-week schedules, and coordinated the technical budget assigned by the producer.

This production was also located in an outdoor venue with an alternate indoor venue, which necessitated a load-in and out procedure every day. As technical director, I coordinated the load-in and load-out and weather contingency procedures dictated by each department.

Role: Lead Carpenter

In this role, I led a team to interpret technical drawings generated by the technical director for construction and execute the project on a tight timeline. Based upon the technical drawings, I created cutlists for the team and delegated tasks for the preparation, assembly, and load-in of scenic pieces. This allowed the construction process to be more streamlined and gave the other technicians on my team more active work time over conceptual preparation time.

The primary form of construction on this project was done in wood; however, a two-story set piece was constructed from welded square tube steel.
